What is Fire Watch or Waking Watch?
Fire watch, also known as Waking Watch follows the tragedy of Grenfell and the change in approach to evacuate rather than for persons to remain inside. Licensed SIA Guards who are Fire Marshall and Waking Watch trained are required.
Fire Watch Security Duties
The duties are to patrol, spot fire hazards, initiate evacuation protocols and alert emergency services. The level of patrol and numbers of guards will depend on the nature of the building and site involved. Guards are specifically trained in the duties and will be fully aware of the site layout, exits, emergency procedures and evacuation protocols to ensure the safety of persons on site at all times.
